This is a film that captured a poignant moment in the history of the Rural Studio—the remarkable education program founded by DK Ruth and Samuel Mockbee. Lucy house was designed and built by students through the rural studio’s outreach program. it is  a unique project in the studio’s history because it was built with the help of a corporate sponsor, interface carpets. Interface is the world’s largest manufacturer of carpet tiles as well as a supporter and practioner of sustainability. for this house, the students were challenged to use non-recyclable carpet scraps in the building’s construction. while carpet is often added to a house, it isn’t normally  used to build one. however, the house’s walls are  made 72,000 stacked tiles of carpet.
